Special Needs Dog Was In The Back Seat Of A Stolen Car, Still Missing
Zorra is a disabled Husky-Shepherd mix that needs a custom wheelchair to get around. She and her mom, Wanda Ferrari from Oakland Park, Florida, have been with each other for 13 years.
They had been through so much together, so when Ferrari discovered that her beloved dog was stolen, she was devastated. She had stepped away from Zorra only for a few minutes. When she returned, her car was stolen with poor Zorra still in the back seat.
Zorra’s Disappearance
It all started when Ferrari dropped her car off at the shop to be fixed. She was given a 2005 S70 blue Volvo station wagon in the meantime. She drove that rental car to a nearby Dollar Tree with Zorra relaxing in the back seat. When Ferrari went inside, she left Zorra in the car alone for a few minutes as she ran into Dollar Tree to get some ice. When she returned, both Zorra and the car were nowhere to be seen.
While Ferrari should have never left Zorra alone in the car on a hot Florida day, it is still heartbreaking that a sweet innocent dog could disappear within minutes. There were no signs as to where the car had gone. Unfortunately, the Dollar Tree didn’t have any cameras that caught the car when it was stolen.
Authorities are currently on the lookout for the stolen car, but so far, they have not found anything. Ferrari claims that her phone and tablet were also in the car when it was stolen, so that might be able to help them track down the location.
Sadly, there is no way to tell if Zorra is even still in the car at this moment, and of course, Zorra is much more important to Ferrari than anything else.
“There are a lot of places where they could have dumped the dog and put the dog on the side of the road,” said Ferrari. “My poor baby could be sitting there dying right now.”
The Search for Zorra
While Ferrari is terrified thinking about what could have happened to poor Zorra, people are spreading the word and trying to keep their eyes open for this Volvo station wagon. Authorities have contacted nearby shelters to see if any of them had found Zorra, but so far, there is no sign of her.
Ferrari has been through a lot recently, and now her missing dog is only adding to those worries. She is a breast cancer survivor that recently learned that her cancer has returned. Without Zorra by her side for comfort, her distress has only increased greatly.
Of course, leaving Zorra alone in the car was not the best decision. No dog should be left in a car on a hot day, even if it’s only for a few minutes. However, that poor decision doesn’t take away from the fact that Zorra is out there somewhere in need of assistance.
If you live near Oakland Park, Florida, please stay on the lookout for Zorra and the 2005 S70 dark blue Volvo station wagon. Poor Zorra needs all the help she can get.
